Your new site stated for young Singaporeans to share their experiences with. So this site has become a platform for youngest?

Might take some times for me to digest here as I’m not consider young here :)

    Hi!

How does one contribute an article? Are there any specifications to the content? What relevance does it need to have?

    Thanks!

As an open inclusive platform, are those born after 1965 encouraged to post articles here?

Can we post articles instead of just commenting on articles?

I really hope the young PAP MPs will take note on the feedback on the REACH web portal particularly on Foreign Talent issue. I don’t understand why it is said that most sporeans don’t have an issue on this but yet there is a lot of unhappiness and frustration vented on the subject. My hope is that this subject can be mentioned on National day rally.

I notice Singapore Women especially those who are sitting right on top-platforms do not seem daring to stand up & speak out for women inclusive MP & assitants of ministers. Recent AWARE leadership tussle was one of the very good example! Instead many Singapore top males fought a few points for them. Quite a few good & qualified females I used to read about their great articles in local papers but they seem to be chickened out on women rights!

Is it possible that we revert to the old format? I enjoyed reading our ministers’ speeches and views on some of the pertinent issues facing us.

This on the other hand serves to cause doubts as people question on how our ministers failed in delivering their promise of engaging the people online.

What a brilliant new and informative site.
Sure beats the ST Forum which is boring.
In addition, as we all know , the majority of letters to the ST are relegated to the bin and never see the light of day, because it seems the Editors have not the bottle to publish the social issues confronting Singaporeans.
    Why, we will never know.
They have always been afraid to ask the government any questions. As far as I know, no reporter has been killed or shot down for asking the government any questions. If anything, it has taken a foreign journalist to ask a question, and get an answer. But we have to read it in another newspaper as ST does not publish the interview in full.
It appears too that the ST editorial team have been too long in place to change.
I hope this site allows for free and good views to be exchanged.

    Dear Future Minister/MP of P65,
You guys should understand myself too come from the birth of 1965 Singaporean and we too wish to contribute to Singapore success, but then you have people in the party or stake holder or even scholar from your GIC/GLC who want to make a name of their own and collect the credit. However an example was a friend of mines which is senior than me and born in the year 1955 which give good opportunities and have the foresight on business and also goodness for Singapore was not just laugh at but also “SUE till his pants Down” when the real story is cover-up and side-track into other complicated matters. But his sole purpose was to make a name for Singapore and also bring in new technology and investment. He does not bother about making himself a name nor collecting the credit. But also to give opportunity for future Singaporean/generation a stake/job/create revenue and opportunities for Singapore to market it into Asia Pacific itself.
Just take a look at the following website :
    1. (Old Website) http://www.ecoenergysol.com/

    2. (New Website) http://www.altpetrol.com/
This was supposed to come in if the deal went through:
    1. Job Opportunity would have come in..
    2. Investment could have come in…..
    3. Listing in the Stock Exchange could have come in….. (Listed in Germany in 2009)
    4. Carbon Credit could have help Singapore into the soon EU Law on Carbon emission
    5. New avenue which is some sort of BioScience stuff…
    6. Kyoto Protocol…Remember our PM Sign them in 2006.

Sit-back and wake up as this is the reality that some people holding on to high portfolios are just cover-up and selfish towards the future generation children of Singapore. We are Singaporean, we love our country and not just these group of OLD timer or Scholar who are selfish…so my point is these even the ideas of having FARMS in South Africa which came out recent to safe guard the supply and demand…Ask Mr Mah himself to look or view this website…. http://www.vaadco.org/
    Or http://www.triceintl.org.uk/page6.html
These are also ideas that come from my this “Oldman” friend of Singapore. His background, a 56 years old Singaporean, Service to the RSAF as Commando, very pro-active in making a name NOT for himself but Singapore and his mission is to make Singapore Sustain for the next 10-30years. Which Singaporean is more committed, but educational level…Primary 6. Remember God also help those with disadvantage to survive. Therefore you guys have to seriously consider that everyone and fellow Singaporean do cares…tell those MP/NMP/Minister to wake-up and stop having the “One-Side Track Mind” funny bunch of Leaders we are having here compare to leader of MM Lee time.
    My sincere opinion…Thanks (Jessica)

Is there a filtering of questions to each relavant authorities/ministries to be answer? e.g suggestion on bigger yellow boxes to LTA, more female toilets/diapers changing facilities in mens toilet etc.
Could the efforts of our leaders like MM Lee and Yusok Ishak be written somewhere for citizen to read. e.g.newspaper,NDP printouts, quiz

This is a platform for YOUNG Singaporeans but the design seems to be from a different brief. The “we’re open” signboard signifies something very old, the colours chosen dull and boring! Who or which company designs this?

    Who funds this site?

I wish maybe, not a zillion miles away and not in a galaxy far away, one day soon, the ST will STOP insulting the intelligence of its readers when they hear a Minister say this and not even say a boo about it.
    Read this.
EDUCATION Minister Ng Eng Hen responded in detail to Nominated MP Viswa Sadasivan’s motion that the House stay mindful of tenets in Singapore’s Pledge when it debates national policies.
He said..”He questioned Mr Viswa’s view that these were ‘conventional practices of democracy’, and asked:

‘Is it so blindingly self-evident that they will work magic for us? If multiple parties and newspapers ensure stability, then how do we explain the problems of India, Philippines, Taiwan or Thailand, who have an abundance of them – parties, newspapers and problems?’
    They have not moved faster.”

COME, COME…does this mean that countries like Australia, Great Britain , the USA and the countries in Europe are NOT stable and have not moved faster because they offer multiple parties and newspapers?
I wonder what these countries will think about the good minister and his nonsense.
    Really, Sir!!
Really the Staits times..I mean the Straits Times!!
Who do you take us for?
We are 44 years old as a nation.
    We are all grown-up now.
    Give us some credit.

I have actually lost interest to post further in here because it seems to me this is an extension of the Straits Times. The type of articles and the contents are similar, even the corporate identity is kept here.

With regards to Education Minister Ng’s statement, the people of Singapore should know that at this rate, Singapore might be thrown out of the Commonwealth membership. Commonwealth countries agree to cherish democracy, good governance and to eradicate poverty.

How can I give a valid email due to my views.

    Dear Mps,

I got a Honda Odyssey 2002 with transmission problem. There is a class action in US re. this and won by the consumer. According to Honda USA internal document, it may cause a crash by sudden jam. It effect all 2002 model and US Federal Law prohibit selling of this model till problem rectify.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Odyssey
    http://www.smokinsales.com/HApdfs/a04-021.pdf

When I called LTA and talk to the gentlemen in-charge of recall. He told me no record of recall in his system. The way their system work is, importer/distributor has a duty to report to them if there is problem, his duty is to monitor if all car owner is informed. There is no pro-active search of any problem.

This seem to me like Madoff problem. He came to the investigator with his own copy of documents. The investigator was naive enough not find out himself.
So I ask this gentlemen, if there is any other government body to monitor this, none.

What I am amaze is, we are going to be a First World, or if not already in a First World, I do not know if we have the US Federal Law equivalent ? Even if we have, we just sit down and expect everybody to be honest, then its not useful at all.

I am amaze how dirty the washroom of many kopitiam in Sin. Also one day I found life worm in tofu dish sold by economy curry rice seller, sms-ed EVA no reply and they are still doing their business at Killeney Road as usual. Well this happened after the rojak in Geyland Serai killed some people.

I am amaze by chief land appraisal, who made a mistake reading the rental income of a property from Stamp Duty form and refused to change back the annual value. First she said it is because of the stamp duty that she raise the annual value in the letter informing the changes, later she said it based from other factor too. The mistake double the amount compare to adjacent property. Who care ?

There are many others, but I think not appropriate for me to say. or if there is of any use.

  16. Who cares?
    October 6th, 2009 at 9:14 pm

    Hi Andy,

TOC cares enough to report such incidents so that the public knows. You may want to email them your experience or what you encountered for them to investigate, verify and publish the stories, in the hope that the authorities doing anything. These days, we do have to climb mountains to get a little attention from the people who can act.

Goverment keep saying locals must have more childrens and start a family early . But the problem is the housing is so expensive in singapore which is based on market value rather than construction costs. The rich foreigners are also snatching up the already low numbers of flats available in singapore. I really feel in the near future, all young singaporean will be forced to migrate to another country where the stress of living is so much lower.

    Dear Mps,

Nice to hear that construction noise will be further restricted. Also heard that what is actually allowed now for night working is only painting, etc. If this the case, its good enough. Just need monitoring my friend, which I think is lacking everywhere.

I stayed in St. Thomas Walk before, the noise come from workers working at night dismantling form and throwing them down. I believe these workers are paid by job, they are not sleeping.

Like many things in Singapura, good rules and regulation are there, the problem nobody monitoring them. There must be some kind of “quality control” to make sure what PAP has been so hard to establish so far going wasted.

Perhaps what Mr. Liew of Capitaland said for bad service in private sector should be applied in public sector too.

Re: “Road rage offender gets fine instead of jail, Judge says ruling is an exception due to circumstances …”

It really baffles me. Chasing people from Whampoa North till Upper Aljunied and dangerously cut into the victim to stop him, more like “premeditated” in Law. Is it because the victim did not appologize or beg for his life when stopped that the case deserved different treatment?

    Dear Mr. Liew,

If I remember correctly you said you always tell China officials that they can not treat high end and mass market as the same.

Is this apply for China only ?

  24. Dear Minister of Law, Re: SMRT must pay for its own security
    June 23rd, 2010 at 12:20 pm

I dont know who say that gov’t must pay for smrt/private sector security.

Are u saying , no pay no responsibility here ? This gives the impression of pay and pay.

Fine private sector must pay, but SMRT is no ordinary private sector. At least gov’t
should give guideline on how to do it and check and check again every now and then.

I beg you please do not give this Angmoh heavy fine or worse physical imprisonment, as he had
done us good by reminding us to be vigilant. In fact we should reward him. How if his defence
is that he want to waken up everybody about security issue ?

    Thank you.

  25. TO: MINISTER OF HOME AFFAIR re. Airport Security
    June 30th, 2010 at 11:41 am

I saw this arrival exit door but use for entrance for workers/employee of Changi Airport. They have this card indentification system to let them in manned by I believe foreign security guards. The problem is, the guards do not really check what these people bring, no scanning and just pretend to check. They should also check if the cardholder is really the person.
